Picnic Point
A scenic walk along a peninsula that juts out into Lake Mendota, connected to campus via the Howard Temin Lakeshore Path. Small, secluded beaches and excellent views.
University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum
Our favorite spot in town for sunset hikes, the Arboretum has 17 miles of trails through forests, prairies, and wetlands.
Devils Lake State Park
Neat rock formations and 500-foot quartzite bluffs that overlook a pristine lake. Many hiking trails and two beaches.

Be sure to check out the sixth floor museum and observation deck. Free tours offered daily.
Dane County Farmers' Market
Saturday mornings on the square are perfect for finding locally-produced fruits, vegetables, and cheese. We recommend the spicy cheese bread from Stella's Bakery.
Henry Vilas Zoo
Free to visit! Brock's favorite part is the reptiles and amphibians, and Emily loves the aviary. There is also a nice beach in nearby Vilas Park.
Olbrich Botanical Gardens
Beautiful collection of gardens, including an indoor greenhouse/conservatory and the only royal Thai sala (pavilion) in the lower 48 states.

There's no way to describe this place, so go see for yourself!
Taliesin
Frank Lloyd Wright's estate and studio is a must-see for architecture enthusiasts.

Memorial Union Terrace
We love this spot so much, we decided to get married here! Enjoying drinks (and ice cream) with loved ones while watching the boats on Lake Mendota is the best way to spend summer in Madison.
Fair Trade Coffee House
Our favorite local coffee spot. Great cold brew and a selection of fresh pastries.
Ian's Pizza
A great casual spot for NY style pizza by the slice, Ian's was our first date after moving here. We especially recommend the Mac and Cheese pizza.
Three locations: 100 State St (Downtown), 319 N Frances St (Campus), and 3241 Garver Green (Inside Garver Feed Mill).
Bandit Tacos & Coffee
After Badger Hockey and Basketball games, we go to Bandit for some coffee tacos (yes, coffee tacos). Great happy hour deals from 3-5 every day.
Lucille
Tapas-style restaurant near Capitol Square with lots of shareable options. We recommend the steel pan pizza.
Lola's Hi/Lo Lounge
For a good-vibes date night, we recommend Lola's for the global menu, awesome music, and buzzing social atmosphere.
The Biergarten at Olbrich Park
German-style beer garden with a large selection of craft beers, non-alcoholic drinks, and appetizers. Overlooks Lake Monona with great views of the Capitol.
